Playing with Beads and Bits

Some years ago I purchased a velvet cuff wrap from Stephanie Lee when she was here in Australia.... I was looking at it the other week, and the thought occurred it would be great with a watch added... I tend to have a bit of a watch addiction.. only buy cheap ones, but once the backing wears to the nickel I get a reaction to them.. so I buy a new one...

hence I had several watches, that still worked perfectly, but I didnt wear... so I got stephanie's cuff out.. and inspired by that... made these...

My Watch - the watch itself is an old one I got for my 21st!
I used black velour for the cuff.. added a peice of a vintage doiley... the hurdle was how do I change the battery when it dies if I sew the cuff on.. so I made little tabs and attached the watch to the cuff with them.. and a button.. when I need to change the battery I will remove one button to get to the back and then resew it

........and one I made for my sister

I also added bits of vintage lace, and made wrap-around danglies of pearl buttons, beads and chains

the danglies wrap around the wrist and 'catch' at the front with a parrot beak clip.. with the chains hanging like charms... mine has a crown (for the artqueens) and wing.. cause I have a wing thing too... now if I can just find the camera charm Lucy gave me, I will add that too :)

And The Swaps Roll On.........

It seems the only paper arting I am doing lately is swaps... I have made a few jewelery pieces for myself and family... but nothing in the way of paper

I took part in a tag swap on Denise's blog Birdnuts Mixed Media  ... using only Tumblefish or Crowabout images...these were my returns (and an extra one from Denise on the left).  Love Denise's swaps.. she always picks great themes...

On PaperArts on Yahoo - I took part in some ATC swaps....

Mermaids
Retro - Mothers Advice

Mad Hatters

Still with Paper Arts.. we had an altered paintbrush swap....

mine went to Fern...

followed by a canvas swap, where we had to use dictionary paper to illustrate or image, or as a background
my canvas went to Jenny

On Arty Oz they are doing a monthly Gothic Arch Swap - with a different theme each month

First Month was 'Dress Form'
all pages are double sided
Second month is 'Quotes'

PaperTraders Swaps

This month I was involved in two PaperTraders swaps...

I took part in Mixed Media Postcards as hostess.. where all players make multiples of a  6x4 mixed media postcard .. they are due to me by end of March and I look forward to seeing them come in.  Mine were done on watercolor paper in shades of yellows and oranges, using Dylusions sprays, gesso, texture paste and stencils, washi tape, papers, stamps pens, machine stitching and collage

They are all pretty much the same except for the images

Also as hostess I made a fabric cover/envelope for each player and their postcard returns will travel home in them

The second swap I took part in was to make a 'swatch' page using your chosen colour (in my case light blue)

They are all on watercolour paper, trimmed down paint chips (thankyou Bunnings), RicRac, a collaged butterfly (from Itkupilli) , dictionary meaning of Blue, three circles of blue from different papers with a blue bling in the centre.... we had to have our own writing on there somewhere so I included some of the meanings of a Blue Aura

The swatches are off in the post monday to hostes.....
